These terms explain the basic rules for accessing and using StarterTables. We've written them to be understandable rather than unnecessarily complicated.
The short version
StarterTables is being built to help people discover each other, collaborate and create opportunities. Use it responsibly, be honest about who you are, respect other people and don't use the network to harm, mislead or exploit others.
About these terms
These terms govern your access to and use of StarterTables, including our website, Early Access programme and, as they become available, StarterTables products and services.
By accessing or using StarterTables, you agree to these terms to the extent applicable to your use of the service.
StarterTables is currently under development. Some functionality described publicly may represent our intended product direction and may not yet be available.
Additional terms may apply to particular features or services in the future. Where that happens, we will make those terms available before they apply.
Legal entity details to be completed before public launch
The final StarterTables contracting entity, registered address and formal contact information will be inserted here once the operating entity has been finalized.
Who may use StarterTables
StarterTables is intended to create a professional and entrepreneurial network where people can build, contribute and collaborate.
You must be legally capable of agreeing to these terms in the jurisdiction where you live.
If you use StarterTables on behalf of a company, startup or other organisation, you must have authority to act on its behalf where required.
We may introduce additional eligibility requirements for particular services, marketplaces, payments, stays or other features where required by law or appropriate for the service.
Early Access
Joining Early Access tells us that you are interested in becoming part of StarterTables as the network opens.
Registering for Early Access does not guarantee immediate access to the StarterTables platform or any particular feature.
We may introduce access progressively and may consider factors such as product readiness, geography, intended participation, community needs and available capacity when inviting people.
Joining Early Access does not create an employment, partnership, agency, investment or other business relationship between you and StarterTables.
Features shown or discussed during development may change before general availability.
Accounts and information
A useful network depends on people being able to understand who they are interacting with.
Information you provide to StarterTables should be accurate and should not intentionally misrepresent your identity, experience, organisation, skills, intentions or relationship with another person or organisation.
When account functionality becomes available, you will be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity conducted through your account where reasonably within your control.
You should notify us if you believe your account or information has been accessed or used without authorisation.
Acceptable use
StarterTables should make it easier for people to create opportunities for each other, not easier to abuse access to them.
When using StarterTables, you must not:
- impersonate another person or intentionally provide materially false information;
- use the service to defraud, deceive, exploit, threaten, harass or harm another person;
- distribute unlawful, malicious or intentionally harmful material;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems, data or infrastructure;
- interfere with the security, integrity or normal operation of the service;
- use automated methods to scrape, harvest or collect information from StarterTables except where we expressly permit it;
- use information obtained through StarterTables for unsolicited mass marketing, spam or abusive outreach;
- infringe another person's intellectual property, privacy or other legal rights;
- upload malware or other code intended to damage or compromise systems or users; or
- use StarterTables in violation of applicable law.
We may take proportionate action where use of StarterTables threatens the safety, integrity or usefulness of the network.
Relationships between members
StarterTables can help people discover each other. The decisions people make after discovering each other remain important.
StarterTables may help you discover founders, contributors, freelancers, advisors, mentors, investors, hosts or other members.
Unless we explicitly state otherwise for a particular service, StarterTables is not a party to agreements or arrangements made directly between members.
You are responsible for deciding whether another person, opportunity, project or arrangement is appropriate for you and for conducting reasonable due diligence before making significant commitments.
A profile, recommendation, match or appearance on StarterTables should not by itself be treated as a guarantee, endorsement or professional verification of a person, company, investment or opportunity.
Your content
What you create remains important to you. StarterTables needs only the rights reasonably necessary to operate the service.
You retain ownership of content and intellectual property that you own and choose to submit to StarterTables.
By providing content to StarterTables, you give us permission to host, store, process, reproduce and display that content to the extent reasonably necessary to operate, provide, secure and improve the service.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights to information or content you submit.
You should not submit confidential information belonging to another person or organisation unless you are authorised to do so.
StarterTables intellectual property
The StarterTables platform and brand are themselves products of ongoing design and development.
StarterTables and its licensors retain their rights in the platform, software, design, branding, logos, trademarks and other materials provided by StarterTables, except for content owned by users or third parties.
These terms do not transfer ownership of StarterTables intellectual property to you.
You may use StarterTables services for their intended purposes subject to these terms and any additional terms that apply to a particular feature.
Third-party services and links
StarterTables may connect to services operated by other companies.
The platform may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites, applications, authentication providers, payment services, maps, communication tools or other external services.
Those services may operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, StarterTables does not control those third-party services and is not responsible for their independent operation.
Service availability
StarterTables is being developed continuously, particularly during Early Access.
We may add, change, test, limit or remove functionality as the product develops.
We do not promise that every feature will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.
During Early Access in particular, functionality may be incomplete, experimental or changed as we learn from how people use the product.
Where reasonably possible, we will aim to avoid changes that unnecessarily disrupt users.
Liability
StarterTables creates infrastructure for people and opportunities to meet. It cannot remove every risk that comes with entrepreneurial activity or human relationships.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, StarterTables is not responsible for decisions, commitments, investments, employment arrangements, collaborations, transactions or other relationships entered into independently between users.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.
Final liability language requires legal review
The final limitation-of-liability framework should be completed once the StarterTables legal entity, paid services, marketplace functionality and geographic launch scope are known.
Suspension and termination
Protecting the usefulness and safety of the network sometimes requires action.
We may restrict, suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of serious or repeated violations of these terms, unlawful activity, fraud, security risks, abuse of other members or threats to the operation of StarterTables.
Where appropriate and reasonably possible, we may provide notice or an opportunity to address an issue before taking permanent action.
Future account functionality will also provide appropriate ways for users to stop using StarterTables or request account deletion, subject to applicable legal and retention requirements.
Changes to these terms
The terms will evolve as StarterTables grows from Early Access into a broader platform.
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the product, new functionality, legal requirements or how StarterTables operates.
When we update the terms, we will change the date shown at the top of this page.
Where changes are material and applicable law requires additional notice or consent, we will take appropriate steps before the updated terms take effect.
Governing law
The final governing-law and dispute provisions should correspond to the StarterTables contracting entity and the markets in which the service launches.
To be completed before public launch
We will insert the appropriate governing-law, jurisdiction and mandatory consumer-rights provisions after the StarterTables legal entity and initial launch geography have been finalized.
Nothing in these terms is intended to remove mandatory rights that applicable law gives you and that cannot legally be excluded by contract.
